The CEO of MyPillow says he wants to lead the RNC.

Monday, MyPillow announced his candidacy for chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Mike Lindell

Lindell told Steve Bannon, an ally of former President Trump and ex-White House strategist, “I am running against [current chair] Ronna McDaniel for chairman of the RNC.”

“I’m all in… and one of the major donors told me, Mike, that everyone wants you to be the head of the RNC, but some of them don’t know it yet,” he said.
Axios requested comment from the RNC.
Lindell, who is also a Trump ally and a 2020 election denier, has not discussed his decision to run with the former president, he told Axios.

He stated, “I did not call him and ask, ‘What do you think about this?'” “This is my choice”
Lindell, who has repeatedly promoted false allegations of election fraud, stated that “the entire nation needs…. to investigate the election integrity.”
The Hill reports that the majority of RNC voting members have supported McDaniel’s re-election as committee chair.

Politico reported that McDaniel announced her intention to run for reelection to the leadership position earlier this month. However, she could face a potential challenge from Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), who lost the New York gubernatorial race to Democratic incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul.

McDaniel, who was chosen by Trump to lead the committee following the 2016 election, was elected chair in 2017.
The upcoming RNC chair will serve until the 2024 presidential election.
Inside the lines: The GOP’s worse-than-expected performance in the midterm elections has sparked a civil war at nearly every level of the party, prompting Lindell’s announcement.
