Adding Apex Legends to Your Steam Game Library
Steam has a very useful feature that allows you to add non-Steam games to your game library on the platform. This will also allow you to use other Steam features, even if the game you’re playing isn’t available on Steam. Because APEX Legends is now available on Steam, you don’t have to jump through hoops to invite Steam friends to your APEX game. If you or a friend do not have or want APEX Legends in Steam, here’s how to add it as a non-Steam game. Take note that you can play on Origin and then continue on Steam if you wish. There are some steps you must take in order to share your saves and data across both platforms. Furthermore, your friend can play from Origin while you play from Steam, which is known as cross-platform play.
Connecting APEX Legends to Your Steam Account
- Launch Apex Legends
- Select the “Friends” icon in the bottom-right corner of the main menu.
- Click “Link Steam Account” just below the “Party Privacy” button in the bottom-left corner of the “Friends” screen.
- A new window appears in which you must enter your Steam account credentials and log in.
- Once you’ve successfully logged into your Steam account, exit Apex Legends.
- Start Steam.
- Go to your “Library.”
- Select “Add Game” from the “Library” page’s bottom-left corner.
- From the menu that appears, select “Add a Non-Steam Game.”
- From the next window, select the “Apex Legends” executable file. If Apex Legends is not listed, browse and navigate to the folder where it was installed. By default, all of your EA games will be saved in the “Origin” folder.
Select the “Add Selected Programs” option. Steam will not add Apex Legends to your library unless you select an Apex Legends executable (.exe) file.
If everything is in order, Apex Legends will appear in your Steam library. You can then run the game through Steam as if it were a regular Steam game and invite Steam friends.
Inviting Steam Friends to Apex Legends
Once you’ve added Apex Legends to your Steam library, inviting your Steam friends is simple. To do so, launch Apex Legends and minimize its window. Launch Steam and look for the friend you want to invite.
Hover over your friend’s Steam icon, and an arrow will appear right after their name. From the dropdown menu, choose “Invite to Play.” Steam should recognize the game you’re playing and invite your friend to join you.
However, this method isn’t completely secure because Apex Legends isn’t an officially supported game on Steam.
