Fortnite and Rocket League have announced that the Epic Games Whiplash sports car will be added to the popular Psyonix car game Rocket League.
Whiplash is one of the vehicles featured in Epic Games’ battle royale Fortnite, and the swift vehicle has been added to Rocket League. In 2019, Epic Games acquired the Rocket League developer known as Psyonix. Since then, the two games have collaborated a few times, but the most recent crossover allows Fortnite players to drive a Whiplash around the soccer field.
Both the Fortnite and Rocket League social channels have announced that fans of Psyonix’s vehicular soccer game can complete challenges to unlock the Whiplash for free. In 2020, the first Fortnite Llama-Rama event allowed fans of the battle royale to complete quests in order to unlock exclusive Fortnite cosmetics in Rocket League, such as a DJ Yonder car topper. The most recent Llama-Rama event allowed Fortnite players to unlock an Octane Cruiser Back Bling and a Renegade Blaze Contrail, which increased the size of Fortnite lockers as Rocket League garages filled up.
Fortnite players have until December 3 to unlock the Whiplash and add it to their Rocket League collection. The impressive sports car, a set of Whiplash Wheels, and four Whiplash Decals will be awarded to Rocket League players who complete at least eight of the “High Octane” limited-time quests. Fans of Rocket League can select from flame, stripe, wing, and lightning-themed decals to create their ideal turbocharged vehicle for scoring goals.
In addition to unlocking the Whiplash in Rocket League by completing the time-limited challenges, players will also receive the vehicle for free in the mobile game Rocket League: Sideswipe. Using the refillable boost charge, Fortnite players who equip the Whiplash with off-road tires and a Cow Catcher are able to traverse the vast battle royale island at impressive speeds, much like Rocket League vehicles. Although the Whiplash coming to Rocket League will not be as moddable as it is in Fortnite, its sleek and sporty design could make it a fan favorite among some players.
While the majority of Fortnite-themed Rocket League skins are added during Llama-Rama events, this Whiplash and its associated bundle are the only items currently available through this collaboration. As numerous fans praised the addition of the Whiplash to Rocket League, others remarked on the move’s appropriateness in light of the Octane’s inclusion in Fortnite.
