After a “domestic battery incident with a woman,” the Tampa Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for former NFL player Antonio Brown, according to a police statement.

Monday afternoon in South Tampa, according to police, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim.

“At some point later, after the suspect threw a shoe at the victim, the argument turned physical. The suspect also attempted to evict the victim and locked her out of the residence, according to the statement.

Brown is wanted for battery and is currently at large, according to the police statement.

CNN has reached out to Brown via his agent but has received no response.

In January, the Buccaneers released the seven-time NFL Pro Bowler after Brown walked off the field during a game against the New York Jets.

Brown, a member of the Super Bowl champion Bucs team from the previous season, previously stated that he left the game due to an ankle injury. He claimed that the team was aware of his injury, which the Buccaneers have denied.

The incident occurred weeks after Brown stated he was suspended without pay for three games in December after a league investigation determined he violated Covid-19 protocols.
